Huawei on Friday unveiled its first commercial 5G smartphone in China, as the Chinese tech giant scrambles to be among the first to give domestic consumers the access to the groundbreaking technology.
Huawei said on Friday that the company will use its HongMeng operating system in smart TV products to be unveiled in August.
Huang Xinyi, 29, a film production assistant based in Beijing, said she hoped to watch films again in cinemas because the sound and image quality are much better than that on online video-streaming platforms.
Huawei is expected to display its first-ever foldable phone, which uses the new Balong 5000 5G chip. ZTE will also bring a new 5G phone to the event.
